Attorney Silvia Manzanero Moderates "Fleeing Persecution" Panel at AILA - CFC's Annual Conference

On October 16-17, 2015, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Central Florida Chapter hosted its 29th Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida. The Conference offered twenty-four presentations on central topics affecting current U.S immigration law and policy.

Attorney Silvia Manzanero, Of Counsel at David F. Vedder P.A, moderated the panel on “Fleeing Prosecution,” which featured as Speakers Professor Rebecca Sharpless, Director of the Immigration Clinic at University of Miami School of Law, and Michael S. Vastine, Director of the Immigration Clinic at St. Thomas University College of Law.

The panel provided attendees with an overview of legal framework related to Asylum, Withholding of Removal, and the United Nations Convention Against Torture, highlighting areas where the law that provides protection for individuals fleeing persecution continues evolve.

Attorney Manzanero has successfully represented asylum seekers from countries around the world both before the U.S. Department of Homeland Security agencies and U.S. Immigration Courts.
