NAS Releases Report Underscoring Immense Economic Importance of Immigrants to America

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NAS) released a comprehensive report on the fiscal and economic impact of immigration, which found that immigrant workers expand the size of the U.S. economy by an estimated 11 percent each year, and that children of immigrants are the largest net fiscal contributors among any group, native or foreign-born. In a press release, AILA President William Stock noted that this report confirms decades of research and "what most Americans have always known"—that immigrants who come to America "share our ideals and values and contribute to our communities, society, and economy."
