"Impossible" Green Card for Conditional Resident

On March 30, 2018 an immigration judge at the Orlando Immigration Court approved an application for adjustment of status on behalf of a client from the Dominican Republic. Mr. Vedder represented the client before the court. The case was remarkable in that the client was a conditional resident who was barred from adjusting status by INA Sections 216 and 245(d), a bar that has been aggressively, if sometimes inconsistently, asserted by DHS in similar cases. Notwithstanding this bar, Mr. Vedder convinced DHS and the IJ to approve the adjustment application. The client is now an unconditional permanent resident of the United States.
