Update on Florida Driver Licenses Expiring after April 15

Many are concerned about how to deal with Florida driver licenses that have already or will soon expire during the state’s Covid-19 shutdown. Rumors have circulated that all driver licenses will automatically be extended. This does not appear to be the case. According to American Immigration Lawyers Association representatives in close contact with the Florida Department of Transportation:

No information has been released regarding automatic extensions at this time. However, offices in Broward, Miami-Dade and Volusia counties have requests forms available outside the offices. The customers can fill them out and leave in the drop boxes there. The offices will then call the customers to assist.

Forms are only available in state offices, which are only located in Miami-Dade, Broward and Volusia counties. All other counties are tax collector counties. Each tax collector county may have different versions if any of services offered at this time. This link will take you to all counties in Florida and their respective availability of services.
